how to make your wallet smaller.

August 20, 2017

If there is one thing I hate about being a bloke, is that it’s not socially acceptable for us to carry a handbag around.

This is when I came across Bellroy on Instagram.

Essentially, they are trying to make everyday life easier by trying to organise and de-bulk everything we use. For example, their wallet range tries to use innovative designs and a reduced amount of leather, to ensure you can carry the same amount of cards and cash, but without the big heavy wallet.

In a nutshell, I love it and will never be going back.

I had a Hugo Boss black leather wallet that had cards in there such as an M&S discount card and my Society for the Prevention of Diseases in Hamsters membership card. (Does not exist). What I am trying to say is that I carry around so much stuff that I never use. Especially not on a regular basis.

So when the wallet from Bellroy arrived, it was time to apply to the Channel 4 TV series Britain’s Biggest Hoarders, and have a clear out.

I went for the Caramel Slim Sleeve, which unbelievably holds 4-12 cards and two folded notes. I don’t tend to use a lot of cash these days, as I use Apple Pay or contactless. So two notes is plenty for emergencies.

I was ruthless going through the bulk of cards, my building pass/fob and business cards.

This is the finished article.

It’s light, slim and doesn’t give you that horrible tight feeling in your trousers when you are walking down the street. Not like that.

There is nothing worse than picking a pair of fitted jeans or trousers out to wear, then just before you head out, you spend 10 minutes lubricating one of your trouser pockets whilst trying to ram this monstrosity in there. Do not get me started about when you come to get it out again to pay!

It looks great with most outfits, and is functional when out and about. The quick access areas are important for the credit card you use daily. The access tab for the cards is also really helpful in avoiding being the fumbling idiot at the checkout with a huge queue forming. (Me all the time).

All in all, I would highly recommend these guys if you are looking for a new wallet, key holder, laptop sleeve, pencil case and anything else you could possibly want.

Make sure you check them out on Instagram.
