The one thing I’ve always noticed about Ryan, is how much he cares. This was the longest interview I’ve done so far. Not only that, he voice recorded some additional thoughts and things he wanted to mention when he got home after the interview. All that effort just to make the interview the best we could. I genuinely believe this is the reason he’s got to where he is and why he will have a long career.

Ryan and I met about a year ago at ‘VIP’ event at the Ivy in Manchester. I use the term VIP in inverted commas, as I know what you’re all thinking, how the hell did I get an invite. As wave after wave of middle-aged women were coming over to talk to Ryan and get a picture with him, I was thinking the same thing. I mean there was a queue just to talk to the chef Simon Rimmer!

Each time I kept joking that they were probably big fans of my Instagram and kept trying to tell people that I put my trousers on one leg at a time like everyone else.

I’d only met Ryan that night and we were mainly j...

I met Louis for the first time a year ago at the launch of the Ivy in Manchester. He’s one of those people I’ve spoken to for a long time on Instagram, but had never actually met in ‘real life’.

Louis and I both have a passion for food. We would always chat about new restaurants opening in town and our photography. Similarly to how you would listen to a radio presenter, hear their voice but never actually know what they look like, I was shocked the first time I ever met Louis. There aren’t many pictures of him on his Instagram feed, because like me, he’s always the one behind the lens.

I’d built up this image of a quiet and reserved guy who I always imagined to be quite short and a small build. Louis is basically the opposite. He’s 6ft 1, and looks like he could lift me up above his head without breaking a sweat. The one thing I got right was how humble and quiet he is until you get to know him a bit better.

I’ve known Becky for over a year now, ever since she moved from Manchester House to launch 20 Stories. She’s like the annoying sister I never had and although I would never say this to her face, I’m actually really proud to call her a friend.

As we sit down to do the interview at 20 Stories on a Sunday, which is technically one of her days off, there is a wedding fair literally being set up behind us and her phone is going off every few seconds. Luckily we managed to squeeze in a quick photo shoot and interview for number 3 in my #PeopleofMCR series.

For those that aren’t familiar with the series, I’ve decided to do a take on ‘Humans of New York’ but for people who call Manchester home.

People of MCR will try and tell the story of this incredible city and all the people who contribute to it being the fastest growing city in Europe.

So how does this work? I will get each person to tell me their story in their own words of how they got to where they are today. I will share...

I’ve known Johnny for a couple of months now, working on a few creative video pieces for him. I’ve been able to get to know him a bit from behind the lens.

You only have to scroll through his Instagram feed, or spend a few minutes in the shop to realise how much of a character Johnny is. If you walked in to the Manchester site, which will probably have 20-30 guys in there at any one time, if I said to you which one is Johnny, you would get it right every time.

For those that aren’t familiar with the series, I’ve decided to do a take on ‘Humans of New York’ but for people who call Manchester home.

For those that aren’t familiar with my new series, I’ve decided to do a take on ‘Humans of New York’ but for people who call Manchester home.

People of MCR (#peopleofmcr) will try and tell the story of this incredible city and all the people who contribute to it being the fastest growing city in Europe.

I reached out to Simon Wood, Master Chef winner and owner of Wood Restaurant Group, to ask if we could sit down and tell his story as the first 'People of MCR' feature. Luckily, he said yes and I headed over to the flagship Manchester restaurant on Jack Rosenthal Street.

So how does this work? I will get each person to tell me their story in their own words, of how they got to where they are today. I will share that story along with some photos for context.

Each person featured will then be asked the same question – Why Manchester?

Simon, like everyone else had a bad day at work in 2014, except this one changed his life.

As a data scientist, he’d watched Master Chef for a number...
